Privacy Policy

Last updated August 8, 2026

Onerlaw LLC ("Onerlaw", "we", "us") builds and runs a small collection of software projects. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It covers onerlaw.com and the projects we operate, including any SMS notifications those projects send.

Information we collect

  • Contact details you give us — your email address, and your mobile phone number if you choose to receive text notifications.
  • Account information — for projects that have accounts, a username, a hashed password, and your notification preferences.
  • Financial account data — for projects that connect to a bank, we store account names, the last four digits of the account number, balances, and transaction history, retrieved through our data provider Plaid. We never receive or store your bank credentials; you enter those with Plaid directly.
  • Usage and technical data — standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps.

We do not knowingly collect government identifiers or health information.

How we use information

  • To operate, maintain, and secure our projects.
  • To send you the notifications you have asked to receive.
  • To respond when you contact us.
  • To diagnose problems and prevent abuse.

SMS text messaging

What we send. Our SMS program sends account notifications to registered users of the Onerlaw dashboard. Each morning it sends one message reporting the user's spending so far that week against their budget, followed by the current balance of each linked account. A user can also trigger the same summary for themselves from inside the dashboard. These are transactional notifications — we never send marketing or promotional texts.

Message frequency. About seven messages per week — one each morning — plus any summary a user requests themselves.

Message and data rates may apply. Onerlaw does not charge for notifications, but your mobile carrier may charge you for messages you send and receive.

How to stop messages. Reply STOP to any message at any time. You can also reply STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT. We send one confirmation and then stop texting that number. Reply START or UNSTOP to begin again. Reply HELP, or email derek@onerlaw.com, for help. Full instructions are on our Unsubscribe page.

We send these messages only to a mobile number given to us for that purpose, and only after that person has opted in. Consent is never a condition of using any project.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We use Twilio to deliver our messages. Your mobile number is passed to Twilio solely so it can deliver the messages you asked for.

Full messaging terms, including how consent is collected, are in our Terms of Service.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only in these situations:

  • Service providers that run parts of our infrastructure — hosting, email delivery, bank data aggregation, and SMS delivery — and only to the extent needed to do that work.
  • Legal requirements, when we are required to respond to a valid legal request or need to protect our rights or someone's safety.

Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account or notification subscription is active, and then only as long as needed for legitimate operational or legal reasons. Server logs are retained for a short period and then discarded. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

Security

We use reasonable technical safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

  • Reply STOP to any text message to stop SMS notifications, or see our Unsubscribe page.
  • Use the unsubscribe link in any non-transactional email.
  • Email us at derek@onerlaw.com to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you.

Children's privacy

Our projects are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will change the date at the top of this page. Material changes to how we handle SMS information will be reflected here before they take effect.
